Painting

After a lengthy hospitalization in 2015, and after addiction, homelessness, and mental health issues I’ve used art to heal. I completed an art residency at Art Beat Studios in 2017, and since then I’ve participated in over a dozen group shows and a solo show. I’m currently working a second, entitled “27 tears” (April 2019)

In other work I also focus on integrating the esoteric and botanical elements of the natural and human world in my mixed media, sculpture and handbuilt pottery pieces

After After a painful ‘breakup’ from a lengthy, intense, and deeply personal 27 year friendship, I needed a way to work through both the love and hurt I was leaving behind. Working intuitively and without a plan, I allow my subconscious to play on canvas. No longer able to rely on a best friend to ‘hold’ my stories, secrets, or care for my emotions, I’ve allowed the canvas to contain them. Using  collage, acrylics and gold leaf I retell my history, our history, to the audience. Although the knock is not always friendly, through this process I am always glad I’ve opened the door when it comes.
